Campbell's 3rd Birthday!

Campbell's third birthday has come an gone. Thankfully we woke up this morning and the word birthday has not been mentioned. I have never seen a three year old have such a reaction and show so much excitement about his birthday. It was hilarious and endearing to witness. Some funny things he did and said about his birthday:

1. My friend Megan's birthday is June 18th and we were hanging out with her that day. Megan kept teasing him and saying, "It's my birthday." Campbell, being very confused by this, was like, "No, it's my birthday!" He was kind of bitter about it, too. I guess he is like his mother and thinks the whole month is his birthday.

2. I got so tired of waking up everyday prior to his birthday and having to explain to him that today was not his birthday, that I had to make him a birthday countdown calendar. Every morning we got up, the first thing we did was put and X on the calendar and then count the days until his birthday. It helped, but the full understanding of only having a ONE birthday ONE day a year is still foreign to him.

3. The day before his birthday, he kept opening the refrigerator to look at his cake (maybe making sure it was still there).

4. The night before, he went to the refrigerator and told his birthday cake goodnight.

5. I awoke on Friday morning, Campbell in my face, to the words, "It's my birthday!" (In kind of a sing-songy tune).

6. Finally, the last one and the one I find most comical. Yesterday (after his birthday party) on our way to lunch with friends I asked Campbell if he enjoyed his birthday party and all his wonderful presents he received. His response, "No, it's not finished!" Clearly...my child!

All in all, the party was great! Small is definitely the way to go. I had 5 friends to entertain me and he had 4 friends to entertain him. We did it in the morning while it was still cool and I served juice, donuts, kolaches, and fruit! I would like to send a personal thank you to Megan, who came over at 7:30 in the morning to watch Campbell and set up the party. I had an unscheduled doctor's appointment at 9:00. The party started at 10:00, and yes...I was 15 minutes late to my own son's party! I couldn't have done it without Meg...or Magan as Campbell calls her! The Moncrief family ended Campbell's special day by taking him to dinner and then to Putt Putt Golf. He had a blast. He got a par and get this...no lie...a HOLE IN ONE! It was a VERY long day, but a fun one! I loved the smile on my son's face all day long!

Just a last minute thought...This year, I was able to have Campbell's birthday party on his actual birthday. What is going to happen when his party doesn't fall on his actual birthday. Oh well, I guess I will worry about that later!

Crystal, the girls LOVE Corpus! It is so funny to me, because even just the other day Cass told someone it was her favorite vacation...and we have been to Disney World! She had a project this year at school to spend $1,000,000 on real things they researched on the internet and such, and she picked a VERY nice house for sale in Corpus Christi so she could live there!
