NAP? With a Three Year Old Running the House?

So...Wes works all the time and one quiet Saturday when Emerson was napping, I had a crazy thought. "Why don't I just close my eyes for a quick little nap? Campbell is very well behaved and peacefully sitting in his recliner watching Noggin." WRONG! I awoke a couple of minutes later to this.
Apparently we thought it would be a great idea to use our Morning Miracle hairspray and fix our hair by ourselves. No more napping for me.
On another note, Campbell is really excelling in school (My opinion). He knows all his letters by sight and can write them (some better than others). He knows most of the sounds and can name many different things that start with each letter (q, u, v, x, y, and z give him a hard time. After all, so few kid words begin with those letters). He can also write his name without any prompting and even spell it out loud. Don't get me started on numbers...he does just as well with those. He can do a lot more, but I won't continue to go on and on. Best of all, he loves learning. We are so proud of you, Campbell!!!
As for Princess Pea Pod, she is just fantastic. She is sitting up, rolls from front to back, and scoots backwards on her belly. She still LOVES her food, like her mama! The funniest thing she is doing right now is she LOVES to hang upside down. When she is on mine or Wesley's lap, she throws herself backward and will hang completely upside down until you pull her up. She even tries to do it in her swing...Good thing she is buckled in tight! She still only has the two bottom teeth, but she is starting to chew on everything again, so maybe more are on the way. She is such a blessing...HAPPY all the time and the best sleeper imaginable. I really don't want to rub it in, but girlfriend will go to sleep at about 6:30 at night and we wake her up in the morning when it is time for school. If she wakes up before we are ready for her, she just rolls over on her back and talks and squeals to herself! We just love you, Fatterhorn!

Sorry for all the braggin', but I rarely ever do it and my kids just make me so proud everyday!

And Lisa O., if you are reading this...I love ya and think about you all the time...Bad friend for not picking up the phone as often as I should! Getting close, hang in there!

Fine Dining and Car Seats and a Birthday...Oh My!

Well, yesterday (February 2) was Wesley's birthday. I surprised him with dinner at Chamberlain's and man, was it yummy! We splurged and had the appetizer sampler, ceasar salads, seafood, and filet mignon! We NEVER do anything like this for ourselves, so after pleading with my cousin, Tammy, we had a sitter and we were out the door and there was NO looking back. Just kidding Tammy! There was no pleading. She is ALWAYS happy to do it. I can't tell you how nice it was to have a quiet dinner with Wesley. You folks who have lots of family and sitters at your beck and call...be thankful. Nights like this for the Moncriefs are few and far between! See our pic (me...not so cute, but we defintely had to document the evening). On another note, both Campbell and Emerson moved into new car seats. Emerson's weight limit for her infant seat is 22 lbs. and let's just say...she has surpassed that. Campbell should probably be 4 years old before he sits in a booster, but he is well over the weight and height requirements and he looked ridiculous in his old car seat. It was time to make the switch. He is loving every minute of it, too. He can't wait for me to turn the car off so he can unbuckle himself! He is such a big boy. Again, the old worn out phrase..."Where does time go?"

I couldn't resist this last pic!
